On March 15, 1955, WLEX NBC news channel signed on the air. It was Lexington’s first television depot and the third in Kentucky. WLEX TV broadcast the first telecast of a Kentucky Wildcats basketball game on February 18, 1956. This station became a full-time NBC member in 1968.
